I am married to my wife of 19 years, Stacey Eiko Yoshida Christensen, together
we raise English Springer Spaniels, tropical plants and flowers. We are
thankful for every day we live and play on the windward side of the Island.
I have worked in the entertainment industry for the past 23 years and have been
a member of the International Alliance of Theatrical and Stage Employees (IATSE
Local 665) for over 16 years
My wife, Stacey, is a Detective with the Honolulu Police Department and has
served with the department for over 19 years. She is one of only a handful of
female officers in the history of the Honolulu Police department to have been
awarded the Bronze Medal of Valor. Our family is extremely proud of her service
and dedication to our community.
I believe culture and history are so integral to a community that knowing who we
are, where we come from and where our future lies is vital to all of us.
Therefore, I would work to preserve our cultural heritage and foster its growth
by establishing heritage festivals and living libraries where our tales and
stories can be shared and passed down from one generation to another.
Sadly, as our kapuna pass on, the history and their life experiences pass with
them. I will work to acquire funding to begin the process of building a
cultural center in our district. A place where Halaus can come and practice
where our song and dance can be seen and heard.
I am the former Vice-President of the IATSE Local 665 and in this capacity have
worked as the unions legislative liaison at the State capitol since 2002.
I know the organization, the people and the community working at the State
Capitol. I have written and submitted testimony on a number of different issues
relating to the entertainment industry here in the State of Hawaii. I will
continue to be a strong advocate and voice for the working people of our State
and our district.
I have served as a volunteer photographer and staffer for the following groups:
• Prevent child abuse Hawaii
• The DARE Program
• No Hope in Dope
• Member of the Hawaii Film and Entertainment Board
• Past member of the Film and Video association of Hawaii
• I have coached, organized and managed the Kailua Basketball Association in a
number of different capacities from President, Vice-President and Board Member
for the past fifteen years.
• I am a strong supporter of youth activities and programs and will work at the
State level to create and develop new opportunities for the children of our
communities.
• I am a diving enthusiast, novice kayaker and enjoy the outdoors. I golf as much
as I can but will never compete with the likes of Tiger or for that matter most
of the golfers at Olomana known as the PIT Bulls
